Valentine Paper
Wednesday, February 4, 2009

As promised, here's a fun little Valentine project for you.
I've been making Hershey Kiss Roses for years. Every Valentine season I whip up a bouquet or two. So far this year we've made twenty-four, why stop with just two, right?!
To make it a complete gift, pair it with a tag card made from scrapbook paper.
Here's how to make them:

1- Gather supplies. For one rose bud you will need two Hershey kisses. One bbq skewer. A square of red or pink cellophane. And floral tape.
2- Stack kisses bottom to bottom and wrap cellophane around roses. Tucking in edges to make sure the kisses are wrapped tightly as shown.
3- Add pointed end of skewer to the inside of the cellophane. (It should rest near the point of the bottom kiss)
4- Starting at the base of the bud, wrap floral tape tightly as shown in picture. This will hold the bud in place on the skewer and cover the leftover cellophane. Continue wrapping skewer until it is completely covered with floral tape.
To make the bouquet, compile several roses and wrap them in tissue paper or place in a vase.
For a quick and easy tag card you will need: Two tags, a heart punch and some tape. Place the two tags side by side. Run a strip of tape so it overlaps both tags. Fold and crease so the two tags now become a folded card. With your heart punch, punch out a heart from the front (see photo of completed tag at top of post.)And last but not least, when making your tag or card, remember that Judy's has a ton of great Valentine papers in stock right now. Stop in and check them out.
Enjoy!
It's Wednesday - part 1 - SALE!!!
It's Wednesday and I've got a fun little Valentine's project to show you but it will have to wait until this evening. In the meantime though, we have another great sale happening at the store. For the month of February (and just in time for Valentine's)
all Jewelry by Rose Boynton is 50%.
Her designs are amazing and would make a great gift. So, send hubby in for a gift, or heck, by yourself a gift.
As you know, Judy likes to support the locals and a good portion of the stock in the store is locally made by talented craftsmen. Rose is a one of our local designers and we'd love for you to come in and check out her designs. Her jewelry will be 50% off for the whole month of February but for the best selection, shop early. You can see a few more photos of Rose's jewelry by checking here, I've shown some of her jewelry before.
And lastly, remember to stop back here later today for our regular Work It Wednesday post.

I was tagged!
Tracy, one of our favorite customers, tagged us. She did this last week but with my schedule I didn't discover the message in time to post it until now.The rules are that you are supposed to go to your photo files and choose the 6th folder and then pick the 6th picture in that file and put it on your blog with a write up about why you took that photo, etc...
This was not as easy as it sounds. You see, I debated whether I should show a store photo or a personal photo. I keep everything all together but since she tagged Judy's blog, it probably should be store related, right? Hmmm! Here's the other problem, if I followed the rules, the store photo is one that you've already seen. So, I went with the personal photo and decided to tie it into the store - that works, right?
So, as some of you know, my husband and I started a little tradition when we were on our honeymoon, 16 years ago, that we take pictures of our feet in all the places we go. The picture above is just another one of our silly feet photos. It was taken right here in Maine at Marshall point light house.
How does this relate to the store? Easy, photography is a huge part of scrapbooking. I know, I know, you are thinking - Duh!!! But seriously, how often do we only take pictures of big events, birthdays or family reunions? Why not start a photo tradition? Can you just imagine the mini album you could make and the little, fun, details it would include over the years.
And, boy, I'll tell you what, 16 years of shoe review is sure good for a laugh. Flip flops are iconic summer wear but some of my other photos, wow! I question my sense of style.
Lastly, Tracy, thanks for the tag. This was fun. Since I'm so late in the game I'm not going to tag anyone else but if you want to see the other blogs she tagged go to her blog and scroll down. Plus, right now, Tracy has some amazing moose photos up. (and I'm jealous of that because I've lived in Maine for almost 9 years and still have not seen a moose!)

Product pick of the day
Armour Etch is the quick pick for the day. This is really, really easy to use and can add all kinds of cool designs to glass items. And, with Valentine's Day just a few weeks away, wouldn't it be awesome to stencil those cute hearts on a couple of wine glasses. You could make them for you and your true love or give them as a gift.
And, just to give you all a heads up, I'm working a bunch of over-time at my other job right now so my apologies that I only posted once last week. This week will be better. We've got a new sale starting this week and lots of fun Valentine items to show, so check back soon....

Punches

Isn't that a pretty site? Every since my high school interior design class I've been a fan of items that follow the principle of gradation. These punches do just that thing, if you punched out a circle in every size and then stacked them, they'd gradate perfectly! And, while I have most of these, I'm coveting that 2-3/4" punch - that, my friends, is a the Holy Grail of the circle punches.
And, while I'm on the subject of punches, these are cool too....
All the shown punches are available at Judy's. If you see one you want give Judy a call and ask her to set it aside for you. Or, better yet, just stop in and pick it up and let her know you saw them on the blog.Smiles!
